Lesson 1 Arm Waves

Ok so one of the first moves you'll learn when starting out with Hip Hop Dance is the arm wave.
An arm wave is basically giving the illusion that your arm is moving fluidically like an ocean wave
from one hand to the other.

Heres a more detailed step step by step explanation of how to wave you can also check out
my tutorial video at the bottom of the page.

The easiest way to start an arm wave is to put your dominant hand out to your side
then for practice your going to make the following moves in isolation:


Once your arm is out at your side parralell to the ground and your other arm resting by your side
turn your hand up, then down, drop your hand downwards and lift your elbow up(just about ear height),
then drop you elbow downwards and lift your shoulder up.

at this point the wave will transfer to your other arm so bring the shoulder you just lifted back down and then
change to your other shoulder bringing it up on your other arm. Then you lift your elbow while dropping the shoulder,
drop the elbow while raising the wrist and then drop the wrist while lifting your hand up.
